Waking up in an empty bed has its ups and downs. I love stretching out and savoring the sunlight on my skin from my window. But that would be better with the person you love next to you. There is something about sleeping next to someone and waking up to their presence. In the moments of in between dreams and consciousness when you don’t notice them yet. Being in a quiet room and hearing the person next to you breathing. Noticing their breathing, then the feel of their body against you, maybe even an arm around you. Then you look at them still asleep. That image of vulnerability, calmness, and beauty now engraved in your mind. How they look peaceful as they sleep stuck in their dreams. Watching them stir from such dreams and how they now begin to notice you. A smile. A ‘good morning’ in a husky voice from just waking up. A slightly tighter hug. A kiss. It becomes a mutual feeling that any sleep without them beside you will never be the same as sleeping alone…
